The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council has strengthened ties with UK-based Muslim social workers, with Mufti Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje commending their humanitarian efforts targeting vulnerable communities across Uganda.

The Mufti of Uganda, Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has hosted a delegation of Muslim social workers from the United Kingdom, commending their continued humanitarian support to vulnerable communities across Uganda.

The delegation, operating under the Islamic Welfare Trust (UK), was led by Secretary General Mohammed Yasin, a resident of Birmingham. Among the team was Fiaz Ahmed, the former Mayor of Banbury Town in Oxfordshire.

The meeting took place at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) headquarters in Old Kampala in Old Kampala, where the visitors expressed appreciation for the Mufti’s time despite what they described as a busy schedule linked to ongoing internal engagements within the council.

“We are grateful for the time you have spared to meet us, even as you attend to important engagements,” the delegation noted.

In his remarks, Dr. Mubaje welcomed the delegation and highlighted the historical foundation and ongoing programmes of the UMSC, emphasizing its role in promoting unity and development within Uganda’s Muslim community.

“We are really very grateful for your passionate hearts in helping the less privileged members of local communities,” he said.

He also acknowledged the delegation’s partnership with ONE UMMAH Foundation, noting that their joint initiatives have contributed meaningfully to social welfare projects in Uganda.

Mubaje further commended Shania Kigozi, the Country Director of the foundation, for her commitment to community service.

“I appreciate her resilience, hard work, and trustworthiness in promoting pro-people activities,” he added.

The visiting delegation was later introduced to members of the UMSC Executive Committee, including Deputy Mufti Muhammad Ali Waiswa, Second Deputy Mufti Hafiz Muhammad Harunah Bukenya, and UMSC Secretary General Abbas Muluubya Ssekyanzi.

The engagement highlighted growing collaboration between Ugandan Muslim institutions and diaspora-based organizations in addressing social challenges such as poverty alleviation, education support, and community development.
